About Revatio (sildenafil)

Revatio (sildenafil) is used to treat pulmonary hypertension (high blood pressure in the blood vessels between the heart and lungs) when people have not responded to conventional treatment. Revatio may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Drug Class and Mechanism

Revatio (sildenafil) is a phosphodiesterase inhibitor. It works by relaxing blood vessels in the lungs, which decreases blood pressure.

How Taken

Revatio is usually taken three times daily, approximately 4 to 6 hours apart. It can be taken with or without food.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible and continue with your regular schedule. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
